Story idea: Card Crush Club

I had this idea for a long, long while, ever since the Card Crush idea came up in GX, so bear with me as I try to detail this in as PC and SFW manner as I can:

Basically, I was going to have a series about a bunch of scrub duelists who get together after school and form their own club, allowing them to duel in a safe environment away from the heckling and bullying of the more elite duelists, and share their unique love of the game and the monsters they find to be particularly appealing (sorta like how Syrus keeps on going gaga over Dark Magician Girl).

Now, this series is going to have NSFW elements, so I can't post it all up on here, but there's going to be a lot more to it than that: there's a mystery about whether the Duel Monsters they interact with in the club are just holograms or are manifestations of real Duel Monsters from another dimension, a mentor-like adult character that mysteriously pops in to take over the club and guide the kids to a more meaningful and structured dueling skill, as if preparing them for something big, etc. I already have a prototype installment written, about a young farm kid who gets comforted by his favorite monster Abare Ushioni after being rejected from the Duel Academy entry exams, but that takes place in the GX universe, and I feel that, now that we have the Totally Original Holodeck Technology Do Not Steal of Arc-V, that would provide more opportunities to explore the club's interaction with each other and the Duel Monsters in the game.

One particular story I want to explore, and might do as the official first part of the saga, is an exploration of a kid who gets a hold of the Normal Pendulums from the early days of the Arc-V sets (including the Dragoons of Draconia archetype), and has to work out his differences with a bully who ends up getting a hold of the dinosaur Cavalry monsters. This one... I think this story will likely be as SFW as I can get it, just to get a feel for what I want to do with the series, so once it's written, I'll likely post it up and see if I get any suggestions on how to move forward with it.

I also have a story set in the Zexal universe about a young kid who is given Nistro's Bounzer deck after his defeat with Yuma, and that changes his life, but I'm wondering if I should restructure that into this series, as well, since I'm having severe trouble on figuring out how people can interact with the Duel Monsters through the AR Vision (since there's no actual hologram or substance to the monsters to interact with, just an image on the D-Gazer screen). Any suggestions on how I can do that would be appreciated, as well.

Personally, I like where you are going with this. I feel as if it would be a unique story, and dwell upon certain elements that, say, GX didn't dwell upon.

As far as help goes, I'm afraid I don't specifically know what you need help with. (To be fair, you have probably listed what you need help with, and I missed it. It's late and I'm tired.) Nonetheless, you have my support for your project. It's really interesting, and I look forward to more information on it.

Reading other's stories or ideas makes me want to post up some of my stories/fan content, both YGO related and non-YGO related. However, I don't know how inviting the storyline(s) would be to the viewers, so that's probably not going to happen.

So, I like the outline for your stories so far, and I think you should go ahead with it. Usually I personally don't like stories that have a lot of NSFW content, but yours sound like they would be very interesting.

And about the AR problem, I guess it would not be much of a problem, as in Zexal, even though the monsters aren't Solid Vision, their attacks are shown to have physical impact on the duelists. Maybe it's something on their duel disks that makes their bodies react as if it was real? Maybe your character actually interacts with the spirits of the Duel Monsters, even thou he can only see them trough the D-Gazer? I don't know, you can find any sort of reason for it to work, even if it was never actually part of the original series, you can create something. I see no problem with it, as long as the bases for the universe are still the same as in the original work.

That's the thing with me; even if it's primarily porn, I try to inject as much actual story and character development into it as I can, to make it feel like there's a point to it, and I've been bumping this idea around for a while; ever since they introduced the idea in GX, I was always fascinated with the concept of a parallel dimension where the monsters from the game exist, and their interaction with humanity - are the monsters summoned in the normal game constructs or do they harbor the souls of their respective monsters? What is the policy with the Duel Monsters themselves with using the game for battle and defense purposes? What kind of hierarchy is there between Duel Monster and human in that dimension, and is interaction between them forbidden? Stuff like that I want to explore with this. I mean, it's not like they didn't show both Duel Monsters and humans crossing over to each other's dimension in GX, so yeah...

As for the Bounzer story idea, from what I can remember, they established that the Photon cards (most of Kite's cards, Photon Alexandrite Butterfly, and Photon Strike Bounzer) were either made from or imbued with the powers of the Barian dimension, so my thought process was that, when Gauche gave the kid the Bounzer deck, he handed over Photon Strike Bounzer, as well, and that overwhelmed the kid and used his desire for friends to give life to the monsters, or something similar.

So, I'm getting mixed messages when talking about how the Photon cards work in relation to the Barian tech/energy used to create them; we've established that Droite, Gauche, and Kite all have special abilities or tech from the Barian energy that synch with the Photons (like Photon Hand and those weird D-gazer tattoos), but that the Photon monsters, themselves, aren't anything special, besides Galaxy-Eyes, since it's true version is that of a Number card. However, since I don't recall ANY duelist beyond those three using Photon monsters (even Yuma), I'm going to go ahead and fudge with the facts and say that they had conditioning/training/whatever to allow them to use the Photon cards and other things made with Barian tech/energy, and that the use of said items in the hands of a layman are unknown.
