The system suddenly adapting to a new mechanic that came out of nowhere is just as absurd as a new mechanic coming out of nowhere.

1st: Duel Disks just cannot develop their own mechanics, the Pendulum mechanic had to be built into them earlier.
2nd: Edo already said something like Yusho used Pendulums against him.

Either there won't be any explanation about how Pendulum was created, or it'll be that Yusho developed it and build it into Reijis system, but didn't tell Reiji that he finished it before he traveled into the Xyz Dimension. This would also explain how the system knew it was called "Pendulum" from the beginning.

That's just my theorie about it.

Edo only said "pendulum summon...", nothing else about it. Maybe he heard it from the professor or Dennis, maybe he had seen it before (this last one is more difficult to believe in since the people in standart didn't knew about it

So, is it ever confirmed whether or not Yusho uses Pendulums? I'm getting mixed messages on that. Also, a ruling question in regards to Miracle Hats: if Yusho does use Pendulums, and he uses a Pendulum for Miracle Hats, and it gets destroyed without being flipped face-up, does it still go to the Extra Deck?

Pendulums always go to the Extra Deck when they leave the field (unless D - Fissure or Macro is face-up), so yes, they still would be sent. Also, Miracle Hats is the second card that mentions face-down Attack Position (the first being Darkness Approaches).
