    The D/D/D Discussion Thread

    Greetings People. Welcome to to the D/D/D Discussion thread.

    About D/D the Archetype
    D/D is Archetype that Reiji(Declan) Akaba uses in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V Anime. It is based on various elements of the Western Lore, such as Mythological Beings, or Historical Leaders, Heros or Events, but this is not the only reason i play it, D/D/D its a Archetype that suits my playstyle and provides me a lot me enjoyment. They are VERY Agressive, and also uses every kind of Special Summon. And just for the record D/D/D are topping a lot of OCG Tournaments, i hope this happens in TCG Too. So without any further ado lets take a look at them

    Pros and Cons

    *Very Agressive, it can stand againt many powerful decks Like Kozmo and Monarchs and Dracopals
    *Uses all different kinds of Summon Mechanic
    *Relatively Fast
    *Easy and Powerful Combos and OTKs
    *Very open to generic Fiend/DARK Support


    Cons
    *Relatively Fast, sometimes you brick and its hard to make through this
    *Floodgates hit you so hard, always remember to have some tricks to get rid of them
    Main Cards (Main Deck)

    D/D Savant Kepler

    Pendulum Effect You cannot Pendulum Summon monsters, except "D/D" monsters. This effect cannot be negated. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: Reduce this card's Pendulum Scale by 2 (min. 1), then destroy all monsters you control with a Level greater than or equal to this card's Pendulum Scale, except "D/D" monsters.

    Monster Effect If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can activate 1 of these effects. You can only use this effect of "D/D Savant Kepler" once per turn.
    ● Target 1 other "D/D" card you control; return it to the hand.
    ● Add 1 "Dark Contract" card from your Deck to your hand.
    One of your Key cards, it lets you add "Dark Contract" Spells and Traps, in order to speed-up your plays, the card this searches the most is "Dark Contract with the Gate" which is basicaly their Stratos in a Spell Card. The second effect, not much to talk, its extremely situational. The High Scales may also be good setup for a astonishing Pendulum Summon, but due to the Scale Reducing effect, your following Pendulum Summons won't be strong as the first one. This is a Must in a D/D/D Deck.

    D/D Lamia

    If this card is in your hand or Graveyard: You can send 1 "D/D" or "Dark Contract" card from your hand or face-up from your field to the Graveyard, except "D/D Lamia"; Special Summon this card, but banish it when it leaves the field. You can only use this effect of "D/D Lamia" once per turn.
    A Very fast Tuner, it can be Summoned with a ridiculuous ease, but be advised, choose carefully the card you want to dump to the Grave, and remember this effect is only Once per name. With this card used in wise hands, you can Summon 2 powerful Synchros in a single turn, with basicaly no Drawbacks.

    D/D Necro Slime

    If this card is in your Graveyard: You can Fusion Summon 1 "D/D/D" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, by banishing Fusion Materials listed on it from your Graveyard, including this card. You can only use this effect of "D/D Necro Slime" once per turn.
    Want a a 2000+ Monster for free ? If so here it is. Fusion using Monsters from the Graveyard with no effort, this card along with Swirl Slime makes a helluva mess. Needless to say that this is good fodder for Discards( Twin twisters, Lamia and Contract with the Witch). If you don't draw the necessary cards to make this card work, it can become a Dead Draw.

    If this card is in your hand: You can Fusion Summon 1 "D/D/D" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand as Fusion Materials, including this card. You can banish this card from your Graveyard; Special Summon 1 "D/D" monster from your hand. You can only use each effect of "D/D Swirl Slime" once per turn.
    More free Bosses, but this time from your hand. This is your combo starter most of the times, and not only for the "free" Fusion, but it can Special Summon 1 "D/D" Monster from your hand, it gives you that small farewell gift that makes him useful even in the Graveyard.

    D/D/D Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok
    DARK/Level 8
    Fiend/Pendulum/Effect
    Scales <5>
    ATK/2200 DEF/3000
    Pendulum Effect If you Special Summon a "D/D" monster(s), except during the Damage Step: You can target 1 "D/D" monster in your Graveyard; any battle damage your opponent takes becomes halved for the rest of this turn, also Special Summon that monster, and if you do, take 1000 damage. You can only use this effect of "D/D/D Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok" once per turn.

    Monster Effect If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 "D/D/D" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it. You can only use this effect of "D/D/D Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok" once per turn. Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 other "D/D" monster, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; banish it.
    Your "Real Boss". Most of the times this card is Summoned via Swirl's Effect, but it doesn't stop here, when Special Summon it can bring back one of your Bosses back to action, and if you summon another Level 8 D/D/D, it can give you acess to Powerful Rank 8 Monsters(Kali Yuga, Number 38). Banishing a Monster to clear your path to victory is always a good idea, sadly it targets, because nowdays we have a couple of cards that can deal with targeting. As Scale it still can be useful, not like in Monster form, but it can save your ass sometimes.

    Dark Contract with the Gate
    Spell/Continuous
    During your Main Phase: You can add 1 "D/D" monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Dark Contract with the Gate" once per turn. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: Take 1000 damage.
    This is the Stratos of the Deck. Its a shame that it has only 1 card with a good search like this one. Not much to say it searches your cards. Being a continuous Spell, means you can use this card in your following turns. The burn damage is almost non-Relevant, you will barely be worried about that.

    Dark Contract with the Swamp king
    Spell/Continuous
    During your Main Phase: You can Fusion Summon 1 Fiend-Type Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or your side of the field as Fusion Materials. You can only use this effect of "Dark Contract with the Swamp King" once per turn. If Summoning a "D/D" Fusion Monster this way, you can also banish monsters from your Graveyard as Fusion Material. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: Take 1000 damage.
    A continuous Polymerization merged with Miracle Fusion. The Fusion Engine is fast as hell. Don't run more than 1 copy, i'm saying this by experience, you will gonna have a bad time doing this, this is strong dead draw sometimes.

    Dark Contract with the Witch
    Trap/Continuous
    You can send 1 "D/D" or "Dark Contract" card from your hand to the Graveyard, then target 1 card on the field; destroy it. You can only use this effect of "Dark Contract with the Witch" once per turn. All Fiend-Type monsters you control gain 1000 ATK during your opponent's turn only. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: Take 1000 damage.
    Decent Field Cleaner, secures your victories, deal with floodgates, and the ATK bonus can be a good way to intimidate your opponent, also it can be used during the moment the card is flipped-up, for some MST-like baits. In case of worry about the burn damage provided by your backrow, this is way to mitigate that damage.

    Main Cards(Extra Deck)

    If a "D/D" monster(s) is Special Summoned to your field, except this card (except during the Damage Step): You can target 1 "D/D" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target. You can only use this effect of "D/D/D Flame King Genghis" once per turn. If this card is destroyed by battle, or if this card in its owner's possession is destroyed by an opponent's card effect: You can target 1 "Dark Contract" card in your Graveyard; add it to your hand."
    A Combo Enabler which is extremely good for the Deck. Easy Summon, reborn your monsters with ease, if this card is used wisely, it can grant you a crushing victory. Not only by the Summoning effect this card is good, when destroyed while in your possesion, gives you a small farewell gift, of recovering from the grave, your lost "Dark Contract" Cards

    D/D/D Oracle King d'Arc

    2 "D/D" monsters
    Any effect that would inflict damage to you makes you gain that much LP, instead.
    It transforms all effect damage in healing. Summon this to give a solid early-game field, if you can't perform your combos, since it doesn't support your combos.


    D/D/D Dragonbane King Beowulf
    DARK/Level 8

    1 "D/D/D" monster + 1 "D/D" monster
    If a "D/D" monster you control attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: You can destroy all cards in each player's Spell & Trap Zones.
    Effects are decent, but not that wonderful. Piercing damage for all of your Monsters is always welcome, and Mass Backrow removal too. But what makes this card something to be reconigzed it is the stats and Summon condition. A Monster that is relatively easy to Summon, that has a High ATK 3000 and high level to help your Setup for Xyz Summons.

    D/D/D Gust King Alexander

    ATK/2500 DEF/2000
    1 "D/D" Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
    If a "D/D" monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned to your field, except this card (except during the Damage Step): You can target 1 Level 4 or lower "D/D" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it. You can only use this effect of "D/D/D Gust King Alexander" once per turn.
    Can't do too much on its own, Just a combo piece.

    D/D/D Hexblood King Siegfried
    DARK/Level 8
    Fiend/Synchro/Effect
    ATK/2800 DEF/2200
    1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner "D/D" monsters
    During either player's turn: You can target 1 face-up Spell/Trap Card on the field; negate its effects until the next Standby Phase. You can only use this effect of "D/D/D Hexblood King Siegfried" once per turn. If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the Graveyard: Gain 1000 LP for each "Dark Contract" card you control.
    Artwork-wise he and Ragnarok are my favourite D/D/D. A mini-Quasar for Spells/Traps, it saves asses when timed it right, and when destroyed. The LP Gain can grant your survivial in harsh moments. Use this card along with Crystal Wing to have a pleasurous moment seeing your opponent suffer.


    D/D/D Wave King Caesar
    WATER/ Rank 4
    Fiend/Xyz/Effect
    ATK/2400 DEF/1200
    2 Level 4 Fiend-Type monsters
    During either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; at the end of the Battle Phase, Special Summon from your Graveyard as many monsters destroyed this turn as possible, but during the next Standby Phase, take 1000 damage for each monster Special Summoned by this effect. If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can add 1 "Dark Contract" card from your Deck to your hand. You can only use each effect of "D/D/D Wave King Caesar" once per turn.
    It stays here because it decently provides your resources. Since we don't have enough decent Level 4 in D/D decks, this card is barely used, making this card potential ignored.

    D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga
    DARK/Rank 8
    Fiend/Xyz/Effect
    2 Level 8 "D/D" monsters
    After this card is Xyz Summoned, for the rest of this turn, other cards and their effects cannot be activated on the field and other cards' effects on the field are negated. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; destroy all Spell and Trap Cards on the field. You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 "Dark Contract" Spell/Trap Card in your Graveyard; Set that target.
    The great finisher. Cannot be a victim of Trap Holes and similiar cards. The complete stun in your opponent's field until the End Phase, , and the mass backrow removal along with those 3500 points of ATK, gives you the chnance for a great comeback or almost confirmed victory. The "Dark Contract" recycle is good, specially when this card fails to deliver the victory blow.

    Other cards within the D/D theme that can be useful

    D/D Savant Copernicus
    DARK/Level 4
    Fiend/Pendulum/Effect
    Scales <1>
    ATK/0 DEF/0
    Pendulum Effect: You cannot Pendulum Summon monsters, except "D/D" monsters. This effect cannot be negated. Once, while this card is in your Pendulum Zone, you can negate an activated Spell effect that would inflict damage to you, then destroy this card.
    Monster Effect: If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can send 1 "D/D" or "Dark Contract" card from your Deck to the Graveyard, except "D/D Savant Copernicus". You can only use this effect of "D/D Savant Copernicus" once per turn
    A living foolish burial, it helps your graveyard setup, but it doesn't do a thing other than this. The Pendulum effect is a bit mediorce, it saves you some life, but the damage is almost irrelevant.

    D/D Orthros
    DARK/Level 4
    Fiend/Pendulum/Tuner/Effect
    Scales <6>
    ATK/600 DEF/1800
    Pendulum Effect: Once per turn: You can target 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field and 1 other "D/D" or "Dark Contract" card you control; destroy them.
    Monster Effect: When you take damage: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. After this card is Special Summoned to your field, you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except Fiend-Type monsters.
    A baby Gorz. It saves your life sometimes, and being a Pendulum Tuner, it supplies your Synchro fodder in decent way. The pendulum Effect is quite useful, a scrap dragon-like backrow removal, good to deal with floodgates.

    D/D Berfomet
    DARK/Level 4
    Fiend/Effect
    ATK/1400 DEF/1800
    Once per turn: You can target 1 "D/D" monster you control that has a Level, except "D/D Berfomet", and declare a Level from 1 to 8; it becomes that Level until the end of this turn, also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except "D/D" monsters.
    Helps your setup for Synchro and Xyz, but it comes with a bit of drawbacks, After you use the effect, you can only Special Summon D/Ds, wasting a Normal Summon or a Special Summon effect this card, don't seem to be a good idea for me, this card is better used if Pendulum Summoned.

    D/D Savant Newton
    DARK/Level 7
    Fiend/Pendulum/Effect

    ATK/0 DEF/0
    Pendulum Effect: You cannot Pendulum Summon monsters, except "D/D" monsters. This effect cannot be negated. Once, while this card is in your Pendulum Zone, you can negate an activated Trap effect that would inflict damage to you, then destroy this card.
    Monster Effect: You can discard this card, then target 1 "D/D" or "Dark Contract" card in your Graveyard, except "D/D Savant Newton"; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of "D/D Savant Newton" once per turn.
    Good recycler, and synergizes with Necro Slime. this card paired with Copernicus have a lot of Synergy too, Summon Copernicus, dump any card you wish to be in your hand, use Newton's effect to pick that card, Profit ? You have near 80% of your deck under your control, also those 2 is the best Scale Setup for D/D Pendulum Summon, since the scales have fixed value.

    D/D/D Wisdom King Chaos Apocalypse

    ATK/2700 DEF/2000
    Pendulum Effect You can banish 2 "D/D" monsters from your Graveyard; Special Summon this card from your Pendulum Zone.
    Monster Effect During your opponent's turn, if this card is in your hand or Graveyard: You can target 2 face-up Spell/Trap Cards you control; you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except Fiend-Type monsters, also destroy those cards, and if you do, Special Summon this card (this is a Quick Effect). You can only use this effect of "D/D/D Wisdom King Chaos Apocalypse" once per turn.
    At first sight, this card looks good, but in pratice this card is not that good, but not that bad... Even if this card is able to Special Summon itself, the costs are sorta high for this, first because almost 50% of your combo happens in the Graveyard, and seceond because destroying your only way to search your cards is not a good idea.


    D/D Savant Thomas
    DARK/Level 8

    Pendulum Effect: During your Main Phase: You can add 1 face-up "D/D" Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "D/D Savant Thomas" once per turn.
    Monster Effect: You can target 1 "D/D" card in your Pendulum Zone; any battle damage your opponent takes becomes halved for the rest of this turn, also destroy that card, and if you do, Special Summon 1 Level 8 "D/D/D" monster from your Deck in Defense Position, but its effects are negated this turn. You can only use this effect of "D/D Savant Thomas" once per turn.
    A free Recycler, and a good Rank 8 fodder, but sometimes this card can be a dead draw, just run 1 of this too.

    D/D/D Doom King Infernal Armageddon
    DARK/Level 8
    Fiend/Pendulum/Effect

    ATK/3000 DEF/1000
    Pendulum Effect: Once per turn: You can target 1 "D/D" monster you control; it gains 800 ATK until the end of this turn (even if this card leaves the field).
    Monster Effect: Once per turn, if a monster(s) you control is destroyed by battle or by card effect: You can target 1 of those monsters; this card gains ATK equal to that monster's original ATK until the end of this turn. This card cannot attack directly the turn you activate this effect. Cannot be destroyed by Spell/Trap effects that do not target it.
    This juggernaut can be very frightening, but makes you brick, hopefully swirl slime can deal with this, and mix so well with Ragnarok, making possible a 3 card OTK, running at least 1 copy of this in the deck isn't a awful idea, but i don't recomend this.

    D/D/D Wave Oblivion King Caesar Ragnarok
    DARK/Level 10
    Fiend/Fusion/Effect
    ATK/3200 DEF/3000
    2 "D/D/D" monsters
    Once per turn, when an attack is declared involving this card: You can target 1 other "D/D" or "Dark Contract" card you control; return it to the hand, and if you do, equip 1 face-up monster your opponent controls to this card, except the battling monster. This card gains ATK equal to the combined original ATK of the monsters equipped to it by this effect.
    A very late game Fusion, a bit slow. If Used along Beowulf, with the absorption effect, can deal a massive Damage, but i don't think runing this is a good idea, because D/D/D Extra Deck is too tight for him.

    Other cards that should be considered( outside of the D/D Theme)

    Blackwing - Gofu the Ghostly Shadow
    DARK/Level 5
    Winged-Beast/Tuner/Effect
    ATK/0 DEF/0
    Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) while you control no monsters. When this card is Special Summoned from the hand: You can Special Summon 2 "Ghostly Shadow Tokens" (Winged Beast/DARK/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0), but they cannot be Tributed or be used as Synchro Materials. You can banish this card and 1 or more non-Tuner monsters you control, then target 1 "Blackwing" Synchro Monster in your Graveyard with the same Level as the total Levels of the banished monsters; Special Summon it, and if you do, it is treated as a Tuner monster while face-up on the field.
    A tuner a la Cyber Dragon,it boosters your Synchro Plays, and can also give you access to Ultimaya Shenanigans, but to do this , you have to use this card for Coral Dragon Summon, which is pretty easy to summon with this card, since there is no decent Level 5 D/D Monster.

    Hand Traps
    90% of the current meta decks runs Hand Traps, so they end up in almost every deck, but there is one Hand trap in special that you should run, and it is Maxx "c", it saves you from bricking, also its so good in Mirror Matches.


    Juragedo
    DARK/Level 4
    Fiend/Effect
    ATK/1700 DEF/1000
    During either player's Battle Step: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, gain 1000 LP. You can only use this effect of "Juragedo" once per turn. During either player's turn: You can Tribute this card, then target 1 face-up monster you control; it gains 1000 ATK until the end of the next turn.
    Good for your R4NK Plays. and the ATK Boost is good way to fight back enemy pressure.


    Draw Spells
    You need your cards at all costs, so don't hold back about running Allure of Darkness, Pot of Cupidity, or Upstart Goblin

    Combo
    Since D/D/D Has a lot of combos, listing them would make this guide long and boring, but there is a combo in particular than i really need to show, its one of their bedt combos, it brought me victory plent of times

    Spoiler Alert!
    1: Use Swirl Slime effect to Summon Ghengis from your Extra, using Necro Slime as the second material
    2: Normal Summon (or Special Summon via Swirl's Grave effect) D/D Lamia
    3: Synchro Summon Alexander Using Ghengis and Lamia
    4: Use Necro's Effect to Fusion Summon another Ghengis( be advised: do not use Lamia as Material)
    5: Actvate Alexander's Effect Special Summon Lamia
    6: Symchro Summon Siegfired Using Alexander and Lamia as Materials
    7: Actvate Genghis Effect Summon Alexander from the Grave
    8: Use Lamia's Effect, then Use her and Alexander as Synchro Material for Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon.







    That is all For the Guide. I know some of this cards are OCG-Only yet. Anyway Enjoy Slaughtering your enemies.

    So will pot of desires be mandatory in a D/D/D or is it just preference?

    Any Draw Power for the Deck is more than welcome, you cant rely only on Gate to get your cards. You can run 3 Pots without any problem, D/D Key cards are used at 3.
