Jack's last name was spelled both "Atlas" and "Atlus" in the Japanese version of 5D's, too.

And of course, have you met my friends Ute, Hyugo and Joeri?

Sometimes they go full phonetic with the on-screen text, sometimes they try to translate it to English fully and sometimes its just utter nonsense. I'm sure we could find many more examples if we looked a bit deeper.
I, Dio, think they should fire whoever thought that "Joeri" would sound good.

(Actually looking forward for Hugi, Djudai, Youse and Uma)

So Yuma was a horse all along...

Explains why it played worse than a monkey in the first part of the series.

Fun fact. Joeri is a legitimate romanization of Yuri and runs on the same principle as old Roman where J and I were the same letter. Language is fun.

As far as I can tell, Hugo's name is based on 19th century France and Victor Hugo(AKA the famous writer of the original era of Class Warfare), Ute's name is basically a reference to the Ute people of Utah's namesake(Who were in essence next to wiped out by the European-descended settlers in America), and Joeri is a Dutch variation of the name George and most likely references the Nazi invasion of western Europe as a whole amongst other things.

Basically we're looking at names that represent each world, I think.

Would you like some Blumenkranz with that?
