    [COTD-JP] Dark World Brainwashing

A new Dark World support Trap Card has been revealed after tonight’s Episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V. It’s designed to help you activate the “Opponent discards your card” effects of Dark World cards!

COTD-JP074 暗黒界の洗脳 Ankokukai no Sennou / Dark World Brainwashing
    Continuous Trap Card
    (1) When an opponent’s monster effect is activated, if you have 3 or more cards in your hand: You can target 1 “Dark World” monster on the field; return it to the hand, and if you do, that opponent’s monster effect becomes “Your opponent random discards 1 card”.

Of all things, darkworld support. This could somewhat hose monster effects which is weird and turns them into you discarding your own cards which then allows them to unleash their true despair. This is literally random as hell. Being forced to have more than 3 cards in hand could somewhat be annoying though.

I think we are missing a once per turn clause.

Well, I guess we know how the Twilightsworn came to exist. Have to admit. Hadn't thought of that plot twist.

Weird thing is, it's been foreshadowed since 6 years ago.

But I thought the Dark World people were good guys too? I want to know the lore now, if these new Twilightsworns are still good guys tapping into the power of darkness, or if it really is a Face-Heel Turn.

Speaking of artwork, it kinda confirms that we are getting a new ryko. Since that dog in the picture has a shield/more armour on it and looks like ryko.

If you're assuming a mistranslation, you're wrong. I checked the Japanese card and there's no OPT there.

The point is: If you keep discarding cards the "If you have 3 or more cards in your hand" restriction kicks in sooner or later. And that's a hard restriction, since you want to go first if you rely on a Trap card, so you have either no backrow or only 3 cards in your hand at that point.

You'll never be "Kurosaki Shun riding a backflipping Revolution Falcon then jumping on a driving motorcycle"-cool.

Now if only they'd get their OP spell from the anime.

konami normally adds a once per turn clause to these effects. So its surprising that this one is missing it. Also this card + the gold and silver brothers can be pretty annoying since you summon them and then return them back to hand, either pop 2 or shuffle 2, rinse and repeat.

Honestly, I want to like this card. I think it can be very useful, especially with no OPT clause. It's a means of stopping opponent's monster effects, which is nice.

...But seriously? You need to have at least 3 cards in your hand just to activate it? Why not just 1?! I can kind of understand the "return a Dark World monster you control to the hand" effect, but I can't wrap my head around the arbitrary hand restriction.

So basically, if you want to run this card and actually put it to use, don't discard.
Currently using: Predator Plant, Pendulum Magician, Zarc Magician, Red-Eyes Interested in: Magibullet, Altergiest, Vullet(?)

DW have access to a lot of draw power, so it generally won't be an issue.
