I hell for sure thought that it would be the pattern that all -code talker monsters will have an Up Link Marker.

I just want to point out that we can control multiple Excodes. Even though the zone lock effect is a hard once per turn, but if it lives long enough, we can lock 4 zones or more.
There will be more Cyberse supports in the future. So, maybe that's why Excode isn't made that "strong" (If we compare it to others).
I think the issue people has with Excode is it's the cover card for the set and they wanted it to be a good boss monster on it's own. But it's definitely more of a supporter. Links aren't that good individually, but when you get their effects synergizing, it's really fun, which is why they've grown on me. Which is why I love Transcode, since it makes having multiple link 3's out at once a lot more reasonable (how's that for getting back on topic?).
Current decks: Salamangreats, Knightmare Cyberse, and Odd-Eyes Performapals
Originator of the Tulpa Summon, and the homebrewed cards you use with it.

That's likely the reason behind the care and balance being brought forth in the making of these new Cyberse support. They have to spread their design across a roughly three-year period. Still, as more time comes, each new piece has the potential to bring the Deck more and more together and make the individual pieces shine (and potentially create more than once version of the Deck).

There's already a framework for the multiple builds. There are a bunch of cards that care about level 2 or lower monsters (with a subset caring about level 2 and lower normal monsters), and there are some that care about being banished, with some cards that banish them. with enough support, eventually these cal split off into a Low-Level Cyberse deck and a Banish Cyberse deck.

Looking forward to that potential, actually.
