    [DP20] New Photon Cards

So you want to be the real strongest Number Hunter? Then prepare yourself.

DP20-JP034 Kikouryuu Photon Blast Dragon (Starliege Photon Blast Dragon)
Rank 4 LIGHT Dragon Xyz Effect Monster
    ATK 1800
    DEF 2500
    Materials: 2 Level 4 monsters
    (1) If this card is Xyz Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 “Photon” monster from your hand.
    (2) While this Xyz Summoned card is face-up in a Monster Zone, monsters you control that have 2000 or more ATK cannot be targeted by the effects of your opponent, nor destroyed by the effects of your opponent.
    (3) Once per turn, during the opponent’s turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 “Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon” in your GY or among your banished cards; Special Summon that monster.

    DP20-JP035 Photon Vanisher
Level 4 LIGHT Warrior Special Summon Effect Monster
    ATK 2000
    DEF 0
This card cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) if you control a “Photon” or “Galaxy” monster. You can only Special Summon “Photon Vanisher” from your hand.
    (1) If this card is Special Summoned: You can add 1 “Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon” from your Deck to your hand.
    (2) This card cannot attack the turn it is Special Summoned.
    (3) A monster that is Xyz Summoned using this card on the field as materials gains the following effect.
    • Monsters this card destroys by battle are banished instead of being sent to the GY.

    DP20-JP038 Photon Change
    Continuous Trap Card
Send this card to the GY during your second Standby Phase after being activated. You can only use the (1) effect of this card’s name once per turn.
    (1) Send 1 “Photon” or “Galaxy” monster you control to the GY, the apply one of the following effects. If “Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon” is sent, then apply both in sequence.
    • Special Summon 1 “Photon” monster from your Deck that has a different original name than that of that monster.
    • Add 1 “Photon” card from your Deck to your hand, except “Photon Change”.

Even though Photon/Galaxy/...Ciphers are a mess of an archtype, I was always a sucker for their playstyle and just the general coolness that them and their user exudes. So I'm actually pretty hyped for these cards.

Interestingly, Photon Vanisher doesn't have a "Once Per Turn" restriction on its Summon or its effect. That's nice, and it means multiples won't clog so long as you can field another Photon or Galaxy.

It does though. What it doesn't have is that "You can only Special Summon “Photon Vanisher” from your hand" clause in the Org's translation.

EDIT: Checked the actual article and it was already fixed there.
IRL Decks: Pure Artifact, Lyrilusc (work in progress) and futurely Tindangle
Online: Trap Monster, Trickstar, Eyes Restrict
Pre-Link Format: DDD, Heraldic Beast, Chronomaly

Ah, so it's a little different now. Good news is that it can be Summoned from the GY now.

Konami keeps making this photon main deck monsters trash, why they make Photon Vanisher not being able to be normal summon when you would only get the search of the photon dragon when is special summon anyway...
By making like it is if you draw multiple copies of it or you draw it without having any galaxy/photon monster on the field/hand, it will be dead in hand...
I would say this card is fine if we get a spell that searchs a photon monster or we get Photon Trade.

The current targets for Photon Change arent that good because of being a continuous trap if it was a continuous spell would be good but I will wait to see the last 2 new photon cards to have a final opinion about this card.
For example if the Blue-Eyes Solid Dragon was a photon card it would make the trap good because it would give an option to interrupt opponent plays with it.

The XYZ is good but that isnt something new because the problem of the photon/galaxy decks always was the lack of good main deck monsters not xyz monster options.
