    V-JUMP Promo: Ankuriboh Effects

Finally a faster way to search for reborn!

    Ankuriboh
    Dark Fiend / Effect
    LV1 300/200
You can only use this card name’s (1) and (2) effects once per turn each.
    (1) When an opponent’s monster declares an attack: You can discard this card, then target 1 monster in either GY, except this card; Special Summon that monster to your field, but send it to the GY during the End Phase.
    (2) If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the GY: You can activate this effect; during this turn’s End Phase, add 1 “Monster Reborn” from your Deck or GY to your hand.

Ankuriboh will be released in the April issue of V-Jump, which goes on sale on February 21.

I love the concept and flexibility of this card.

The first effect is a hand trap monster reborn. That's amazing. The monster only lives for one turn, but its effects are not negated, so it can generate enough advantage just being on the field and/or floating.

The first effect depends on the opponent's action to trigger it, but the second effect even allows your own destruction effects to combo with it, so it can search a Monster Reborn proactively if comboed with a Metalfoes Pend, or the like.

And both effects can be used together to taunt the opponent into either giving you a Monster Reborn, or give up their battle phase entirely (because Ankuriboh can SS another copy of itself with the first effect).

And the artwork is the cutest.

It can't Special Summon itself, it says "except this card".

Yeah, sorry. I meant it can SS another copy of itself. Fixed, thanks.

It's too bad you can't summon Winged Kuriboh LV10 with this. But I guess you could extend the combo by summoning Winged Kuriboh with this then activate the Quickplay Spell Transcendant Wings to summon LV10 and explode the opponent's field in their face.

Also I guess some shenanigans with Junkuriboh?

Yes, I am thinking possibilities in a Kuriboh deck.

If we're talking Kuriboh decks, this card goes really well with Kuribohrn. Revive a monster with Ankh's discard effect and if that monster gets destroyed, re-revive it with Bohrn's discard effect. Then you can banish Bohrn to revive Ankh and go get yourself a Monster Reborn.
IRL Decks: Pure Artifact, Lyrilusc (work in progress) and futurely Time Thief
Online: Trap Monster, Trickstar, Eyes Restrict
Pre-Link Format: DDD, Heraldic Beast, Chronomaly

You could also bring back Linkuriboh, then tribute it to make the atk 0.
Current decks: Salamangreats, Knightmare Cyberse, and Odd-Eyes Performapals
Originator of the Tulpa Summon, and the homebrewed cards you use with it.
