[Duelist News] Digital Bugs Special Feature
“Digital Bug” Special Feature: Use Your Xyz Material And Revolve To Xyz Monsters Of A Higher Rank!!
“Shining Victories” (On Sale January 9th, 2016), includes the “Digital Bug” series which fights via Xyz Summons and is centered around Level 3 Insect-Type monsters!

Also, the Xyz Monsters can use their Xyz Materials to evolve into a Xyz Monster of a higher Rank!

Let’s introduce them in details, so you can check out their charms and characteristics!
    Let’s Introduce “Digital Bug” Monsters!
The Level 3 LIGHT Insect-Type “Digital Bugs” all possess abilities for calling their allies from the hand, Deck or Graveyard, allowing you to rapidly perform Xyz Summons of Rank 3 Insect-Type Monsters. As well, the monsters Xyz Summoned by these cards gain various effects!
    Digital Bug – Websolder
    [ATK 500/DEF 1500]
Cannot be used as an Xyz Material for an Xyz Summon, except for the Xyz Summon of an Insect-Type Xyz Monster.
    (1) Once per turn: You can target 1 face-up Attack Position monster you control; change it to Defense Position, and if you do, Special Summon 1 Level 3 Insect-Type monster from your hand in Defense Position.
    (2) An Xyz Monster that was Summoned using this card on the field as Xyz Material gains this effect.
    ● If it is Xyz Summoned: Change the DEF of as many face-up monsters your opponent controls as possible to 0, and if you do, change the ones affected by this effect to Defense Position.
[⇒ This card can target itself to activate its (1) effect! Its (2) effect is also strong, as it heavily supports this Series’ combos!]
    Digital Bug – Centibit
    [ATK 1500/DEF 500]
Cannot be used as an Xyz Material for an Xyz Summon, except for the Xyz Summon of an Insect-Type Xyz Monster.
    (1) Once per turn, when this face-up Attack Position card is changed to Defense Position: You can Special Summon 1 Level 3 Insect-Type monster from your Deck in Defense Position.
    (2) An Xyz Monster that was Summoned using this card on the field as Xyz Material gains this effect.
    ● It can attack all Defense Position monsters your opponent controls, once each.
[⇒ Its effect that calls allies from the Deck is incredibly strong!
Cards like “Curse of Anubis” effect both you and your opponent’s side of the field, making it quite useful for effects that need your monsters to go to Defense! Use this to set up for an Xyz Summon, and then use the (2) effect to attack!]
    Digital Bug – Cocoondensor
    [ATK 0/DEF 2000]
Cannot be used as an Xyz Material for an Xyz Summon, except for the Xyz Summon of an Insect-Type Xyz Monster.
    (1) Once per turn, if this card is in Attack Position: You can target 1 Level 3 Insect-Type monster in your Graveyard; change this card to Defense Position, and if you do, Special Summon that target in Defense Position.
    (2) An Xyz Monster that was Summoned using this card on the field as Xyz Material gains this effect.
    ● If it attacks a Defense Position monster, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the Damage Step.
[⇒ Its (1) effect calls allies from the Graveyard, which can be used to Xyz Summon “Digital Bug – Scaradiator”!]
    Let’s Introduce”Digital Bug” Xyz Monsters!
The Rank 5 “Digital Bug – Corbage” can be Xyz Summoned on top of Rank 3 or 4 Insect-Type Xyz Monsters, while the Rank 7 “Digital Bug – Rhinocebus” can be Xyz Summoned on top of Rank 5 or 6 Insect-Type Xyz Monsters! Fight by evolving your monsters to deal with whatever situation you need!

Its Effect That Changes The Opponent Monster’s Battle Position Also Negates And Can Be Used During The Opponent’s Turn!
    Digital Bug – Scaradiator
    [ATK 1800/DEF 1400]
2 or more Level 3 LIGHT Insect-Type monsters
    (1) Once per turn, during either player’s turn: You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; change its battle position, and if you do, negate its effects until the end of this turn.
    (2) Once per turn, when this card destroys an opponent’s monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: You can attach the destroyed monster to this card as an Xyz Material.
Return Your Opponent’s Defense Position Monsters To The Deck!
    Digital Bug – Corebage
    [ATK 2200/DEF 1800]
2 or more Level 5 LIGHT Insect-Type monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by detaching 2 Xyz Materials from a Rank 3 or 4 Insect-Type Xyz Monster you control, then using that Xyz Monster as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.)
    (1) Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Defense Position monster your opponent controls; shuffle it into the Deck.
    (2) Once per turn, if the battle position of a monster(s) on the field is changed: You can attach 1 Insect-Type monster from your Graveyard to this card as an Xyz Material.
The Effect That Destroys Opponent’s Monsters Can Also Be Activated During The Opponent’s Turn!
    Digital Bug – Rhinocebus
    [ATK 2600/DEF 2200]
2 or more Level 7 LIGHT Insect-Type monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by detaching 2 Xyz Materials from a Rank 5 or 6 Insect-Type Xyz Monster you control, then using that Xyz Monster as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.)
    (1) If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent.
    (2) Once per turn, during either player’s turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; destroy the face-up monster(s) your opponent controls that has the highest DEF.
Let’s Introduce “Digital Bug” Spell And Trap Cards!
Not only do they have an Field Spells that can increase your Xyz Materials, but there’s also a Trap Card that arranges monsters for an Xyz Summon, as well as enabling Xyz Summons of various Ranks!
    Bug Matrix
    [Field Spell Card]
You can only use the (2) effect of “Bug Matrix” once per turn.
    (1) All Insect-Type monsters you control gain 300 ATK and DEF.
    (2) You can target 1 Insect-Type Xyz Monster you control; attach 1 Insect-type monster from your hand to it as an Xyz Material.
[⇒ Its (2) effect is useful since Xyz Monsters can’t activate their effects without enough Xyz Material! Also, it’s a hand effect that can be used to help your evolve a monster to an Xyz Monster of a higher rank!]
    Bug Emergency
    [Normal Trap Card]
You can only activate 1 “Bug Emergency” per turn.
    (1) Target 2 Level 3 Insect-Type monsters in your Graveyard; Special Summon them, but their effects are negated.
    (2) You can banish this card and 1 Xyz Monster from your Graveyard; the Levels of all Level 3 Insect-Type monsters you currently control become equal to the banished Xyz Monster’s Rank until the end of this turn, also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except Insect-Type monsters.
[⇒ Not only can you prepare for an Xyz Summon with its (1) effect, but you can aim for Xyz Summons of various ranks using its (2) Effect!]

Yes but it eats up your hand advantage like no one's business. Come on, now; a Rank-Up-Magic would've been better than this.

We have Astral Force at least, which is pretty incredible in the deck.

    Normally yes.
Given how these guys function, Astral force is actually a viable alternative as it doesn't take 2 Material from the xyz, and by extent doesn't take the time or effort it takes to attach enough material to stack it again

You shouldn't assume things you don't know about people.

Astral Force is great in the deck because it's the only way to rank up their monsters without losing advantage.

The deck is still shit though, and unless The Dark Illusion gives them more support, I don't see them ever being good.

Calling them shit, is an overstatement imo. They're just an average, functioning and, fair deck. Although this does in the end depend on our own definition and prototype of what a "shit" deck is.

Something something R&D doesn't believe in hand advantage like you do, something something.

They have one main play (Xyz and try to rank up to Rhino), and they're cut off from all non-Insect Xyz plays (which there is no reason for them to have that clause). They have no searching or drawing power. Their bosses have no innate protection.

Two or three years ago, they might have been better. But in modern Yugioh? They're just not good enough. I've been messing with the deck all day on YGO Pro and they just can't do enough to make them be considered good.
